For those of you who are not aware, we offered our first Italian Training Camp in March 2007 and had a good turnout. It's in the Riccione/Rimini coastal area on the Adriatic Sea with the mountains only 10k away so there's plenty of scope for long climbs, beautiful Italian countryside, quiet villages and thrilling descents. We racked up between 200-250 miles that week, with most cyclists putting in 5 days riding. On average the rides were between 50-60 miles.
The area is also known for catering to cyclists and is where many pro teams train, is Marco Pantani's home region and has a long cycling tradition. While we were there, we had a number of pro teams staying in the same hotel with us and the town was full of Tour de France level teams in town for the Coppi Bartali Bike Festival and stage races. While the weather was less than perfect we had a great time found the cycling excellent.
A thread has been created on TCCTalk called 2008 Training Camp for questions and discussion. If you want to get the skinny on how it was last year contact myself or Lisa W, Jason H., Sacha H., Simon L., Mary M. or Jo and I'm sure they'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
